Typically if you don't choose a date for its significance to you or your relationship (birthday, special date in your relationship, parents/grandparents anniversary, etc.) then you choose a date that is:

1. available at your location (both wedding and reception venue)

2. most likely not a holiday since that is a time that a lot of people will travel and not be able to come to your wedding

3. going to give you ample time to plan and not feel rushed or conflict with any other major life changes (for example school or work)

Personally, I would choose some time in May. It is a year away and will give you plenty of time to plan but also isn't so far out that you are planning for so long that it becomes your life and after you get married you feel like you have nothing to do.

Good luck and congratulations!!Advice for choosing a date for our wedding help!?
If most everyone is local than go with May 1 for a beautiful spring wedding. Early May is usually comfortable and gorgeous time of year, and the date falls between easter 4/4 and mother's day 5/9. Travel airfare rates and venues might be lower cost during this timeframe, and your wedding service providers likely won't be in their huge time crunch for the June weddings. if you have relatives who would like to travel to the wedding or those who have school age children, summer is usually the best time. A wedding over the July 4th holiday is not advisable - too many other things going on, so that leaves August 7th as the best date for a summer wedding.
for sure AUGUST. may is when you can never really predict the weather and july is way to hot. august is perfect because it is way after rain season and it is at the end of summer so it is starting to cool down but the whole month is always sunny days. plus, may is graduations and proms, july is graduation open houses. august is usually pretty open for people

im getting married too and i chose august for these exact reason.
do any of the dates have any meaning to you?

either that you would want to share your anniversary with or wouldn't?

my e-mail address has ended in 5210 since i was 18 (8 years) so when i saw that 5/2/10 was a sunday i just had to take it!

other than that it really depends on where you are but i'd stick with may - the weather is a bit less predictable but at least it's not crazy hot like in jul %26amp; aug - even if the ceremony and reception are both inside you will still have to go outside occasionally and you don't want to melt :)
well. july 3rd is one day before the 4th of july and most people are with their family or on vacation.

august 7th i think is tooo hott.

may usually has rain,

i would go with either,

the day you met. the day you starting dating.

a year after the proposal date. those are just

some ideas. you and your fiance should choose.
5/1/10 has a nice ring to it and would be easy to remember! Isn't May 1st also know as May Day? It's really cool. The weather should be fairly nice but not too hot like in July or August.
The world economy is about to go bust thanks to Obama. I assure you, you will not have a wedding after the hyperinflation starts.
5/22- july 3rd is a bad date. also end of summer every one is finishing vacations and getting ready for back to school. plus it's too hot then.
May 22-- reason being the weather will probably be nice yet mild (depending on where you live of course)... the others I feel you risk rain/extreme heat
